What plant size is better for your program? D and B Plants offer two pot sizes on most of our lining out stock.
The 2 ¼" pot size comes as a plug sheet and must be sold in multiples of 50. The shape of the cell used offers a large root capacity in comparison with other 2 ¼" pot sizes available. The quart pot is often grown for a year longer than the 2 ¼" plant, and has a much more advanced root and branch structure. The benefits of the economy of initial purchase and shipping with a 2 ¼" plant must be factored against the shorter growing cycle produced by the quart plant. Stunted or failed growth can result from too large of a pot used at shift up. Buxus, Rhododendron, Barberry and many evergreens are prone to this condition. Many of our clients combine sizes for a staggered finish. For specific descriptions of plant sizes, please send an e-mail. It is often possible for us to e-mail back a photo of the variety.
